Beginnings

The Trip

People have often asked me what a trip to Taiwan entails. Typically I go through your basic run-of-the-mill answers. A past tense story with little quips and jokes thrown in. While this is a nice little summary for those who have never had the opportunity to take this journey it really doesn't give a nice open eyed view of the experience. I have always thought about doing a daily blog of the trip but never really got around to doing it.

This year its different though. Aside from wanting to try something new I have a great test subject to watch and note on. Shawna, my brother's girlfriend, has decided to take her first international trip with us to Taiwan. The second plane ride of her entire life is one of the longest in the world.. A 14 hour flight from Chicago to Tokyo. She is an adorable and innocent person experiencing the outside world for the first time so I'll frequently be posting about her so everyone can see a first timers reactions to a completely different world. I'll keep most of my posts pretty simple and sweet. Attention spans are short nowadays and I'll appeal to that. If you made it this far through my intro props to you. Anyway hope you enjoy the journey I'll be taking you through.
